The OTAMAN Gen4 V4+ body armor is a vest with an increased protection area for the entire body. The weight of the body armor is 9.2 kg. The rather large weight is due to the expanded ballistic protection area of Class 2 according to DSTU.
In the basic configuration V4+, the protection level of the vest is Class 6 according to DSTU. This protection class provides protection against fragments, ricochets, and automatic weapon fire.
The configuration includes:

protection for the back, sides, neck, and lower back,

4 rigid magazine pouches,

ceramic armor plates of Class 6.
The body armor can also be equipped with Class 6 plates sized 27×35 cm (XL) since the standard configuration includes plates sized 25×30 cm.
Size and fit
This body armor is suitable for both large men and slim users.
How to choose the right size:

Size S/M — suitable for users up to 175 cm in height and chest circumference from 50 to 170 cm.

Size L/XL — suitable for users from 175 cm in height and chest circumference from 60 to 180 cm.
Don’t worry — the vest is easily adjustable to fit any body size.
Main advantages of the body armor
1. Durability
The plate carrier material is CORDURA 1000D — a fire-resistant and extremely durable fabric, resistant to abrasion (over 50,000 cycles), non-flammable, invisible to night vision devices, and moisture-resistant.
The quick-release system is located on the sides and shoulders, allowing the wearer to quickly remove the armor in emergency situations and providing medics access to the body within seconds.
2. Protection
The increased protection area allows full coverage of the front, side, and back parts of the body — unlike most standard body armor models.
3. Comfort
The construction of the body armor is designed to redistribute the weight onto the back and abdominal muscles instead of the shoulders, as in most other vests.
This allows the user to wear the armor longer and more comfortably, without significant fatigue.
Origin and concept
The OTAMAN (Improved Ballistic Vest, Class 2) was created based on the legendary U.S. Army combat vest — IOTV (Improved Outer Tactical Vest).
This model was originally designed for military operations in Afghanistan and was later used in Syria, Iraq, and by private contractors around the world.
The IOTV gained popularity due to having the largest protection area in the world, which became crucial with the development of modern artillery weapons.
Interestingly, the IOTV was developed with combat experience in mind, where high mobility and maximum protection were key requirements.
For example, the IOTV has a quick-release system, allowing soldiers to instantly remove the vest when necessary — a feature that can be life-saving during sudden attacks or when a quick evacuation from the battlefield is required.
The OTAMAN body armor inherited these advanced technologies, providing not only reliable protection but also high functionality for modern operators.
